Dr. Nguyen Thu Giang

Dr Nguyen Thu Giang is a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. She received her PhD in media and cultural studies from University of Queensland, Australia in 2016. Her thesis investigates the relationship between post-Reform television and the process of national formation in Vietnam. She is completing a book based on her thesis, which is to be published by Routledge in 2018. Giang is now working on a new project about the gendered escalation of precarity in Vietnam through the case study of motherhood and social media. She is also interested in memorial practices enabled by popular media in contemporary Vietnam.
